Erm,,,ig i’ll ask

I feel like hiding here and pretend that im typing in the tags would help but. Is it normal to feel like a rut in writing? I never like to ask or talk abt this things cause I do have a sort of pride and worry ppl will doubt my skills. Idk smth like that. Lately I’ve been feeling this writer’s rut with my au’s story. Where things feel very spotty, yknow when you rub your eyes hard you start to see spots? Well that’s how I see my au story, where it’s clear on what I want in certain parts but it’s a haze in other areas.

I feel like im overthinking and over complicating things in my story. Rn where its at in the comic is fine. I guess the issue I have is that it feels like there’s so mich going on. Like do I want to go on this path? Will it be easier if I try another way? I feel like I haven’t explored certain things that I want to explore. I feel like I haven’t pushed much the horror elements of my story enough. But I worry it will be too edgy. I feel like im adding too much symbolism and details where there shouldn’t be. But I also love adding symbolism even in the smallest details. Idk this chapter really cracked my little head, aside from feeling frustrated that the linework doesn’t look good cause im still figuring out the pen pressure to my liking. I love the story I wrote for that chapter and im still pretty proud of it, I guess it just feels like im taking too long to work on when I just want to finish it and share with you all.

Anyways I guess this is entering in vent territory but I would like some advice to figure this out. I guess that’s the issue of being an overly critical person that you become your biggest critic. But I love criticizing things!! I love being critical!! I love engaging in discussions on how things could work better!! But also im a very scared and paranoid person nfkajfksnkfb i mean no harm. Ik this story will not be a 10/10 story I at least want it to be cohesive. I at least want people to enjoy it. Ik this story for me mostly but I feel lost!! Idk what to do!! But I also feel so selfish in asking its weird like i dont want to this to be all abt me. I just want to figure out smth that I feel a little lost on.

But I enjoy it! But it’s also a double edged sword, cause art class you are free to critique cause ur learning but here?? This is my personal stuff for my own enjoyment, how would I handle that? anw to ur question: yes vika does indeed sleep with weighted blankets!! tho he learned abt those sometime when he hit his 20s so it wasnt always weighted blankets. wrapping himself tightly into blankets is smth he always did tho, starting in his childhood when he had a nervous breakdown and didnt know what was happening or what to do. he was shaking and trembling really bad and assumed he was just cold so he wrapped himself into his blankets as tightly as he could "to warm up" and found out that the pressure and weight helped him calm down bc it gave him the comfort he was needing (it felt akin to getting hugged tightly and grounded him back to reality, back to existence)

anw pressure/weight helps him a lot in calming down thats why he also kind of likes tight vests/straps/ropes (i know i know but im not intending to make this sound kinky, its rlly abt the pressure grounding and soothing him)

one time, i said she should change her theme colors because they were major eyestrain (bright orange background with teal text) and she told me "nah i like it this color, no one has complained." i waited two weeks... then sent an anon saying "im sorry ur theme is rly eyestrainy :((" and she immediately replied with "i looked up color palettes that are easier on the eyes and changed it!! i hope that helps"

and so basically after that, if i ever had an issue with her stuff, i would send an anon in instead of telling her because it would work. i need her to trigger tag smth? send her anon asking it, she would do it. do i think she needs to tag really long posts? send her anon, she would do it. do i think she has a bad take on a ship i like?? send her an anon, she would apologize and rewrite the post to be nicer / fairer. because otherwise she would just go "ehhh its fine" to my face and refuse to consider it because "idk thats just ur opinion im just doing my own thing"

hi i havent been online in a bit or written any diary entries recently bc well i was really depressed and then i just like forgot or whatever. but uhmmm life updates sorta/just how im doing right now.

i will start with the good news :-) i am not depressed! ive been feeling good pretty consistently for the past 2 weeks i think? ive been happy enough to be able to function normally and do all the stuff i need to do. also school swim started so i got to see my crush (the one i talked abt a bunch last year) and i actually need him so bad he's so fine i need him. not much has happened w him (in terms of moments or whatever) but it will soon trust!!!!!! also ive been feeling a bit more confident lately in terms of how i think guys percieve me so i hope maybe that will inspire me to make a move but probably not. oh well.

as for everything else. well. i have been having issues with that one bitch "friend" ofc hoping to hit her with a car sometime soon. but thats not rly new ig. i am kind of having issues too tho with one of my other friends bc he's being weird and annoying. recently hes been extremely sensitive abt just everything which is whatever except he won't tell me, he'll just get upset and try to get me to ask him if he's upset except i won't play that game ugghhhhh if u have a problem with me tell me bc i wont understand otherwise!!! i cannot possibly fathom what he's got wrong with him about me so im not even gonna try. if he wants to fix it he can use his words otherwise no bueno it is not happening!!!!

he's also been like. weird to me recently. we're in psychology class together and we're gonna be at the "abnormal behavior" unit soon (which is mental illnesses) and he keeps saying ohhhh we're almost at your unit we're almost there when it's like stop thats actually so annoying. i am abnormal and crazy but that's not ur place to say? i dont talk to my friends abt my mental illness struggles but i guess it is obvious there's smth wrong with me or whatever but it's just annoying. i will talk abt how im against involuntary commitment to psych wards and how sooooo many therapists only end up doing more harm than good and my problems with the whole mental health industry and the modern understanding of it bc it's smth im rly passionate abt, but he just brushes me off as if i dont have first hand experience with all of the terrible ways psychiatry and the mental health industry can fuck people up???? i also feel weird talking to him in general sometimes bc i know he'll bring me up to his therapist (because he constantly mentions it) and i feel like i cant talk to him bc he's gonna tell her and that just puts a weird strain on the relationship. like his therapist knows me, but just from his pov and that kinda weirds me out im ngl.

oh i also got in a fight w my mom today. actually we're still fighting. it was over something soooo insignificant but i got so overly angry like i always do and now im going to make it ruin the rest of my day because i am insufferable. she's just been really angering me lately also ive been feeling destructive which is complicated. i dont rly like the term "splitting" but it's def what ive been doing a lot lately. ugh. also i like dont know what to do with my bpd "diagnosis" it makes me angry and like i just have so many problems with it in so many ways REGARDLESS if i actually have it or whatever which i could talk abt for hours. in some ways it's nice to have a label for what ive been going through my whole life but in most ways i am like not too happy with the fact that ive been handed a disqualification from ever being upset again. if i am, it'll just be because im a crazy borderline! ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! anyway. more on that whole mess later sorry

monday !!

at home; right now i’m just waiting on my mom to be done getting ready. my outfit is really cute today !! i have a pink shirt, navy skirt, white socks, and doc martins. my mom bought me a fidget ring yesterday and it honestly has helped a lot since then. i have costume design, acting 1, algebra, and voice & movement today. honestly my only class that will probably be an issue is voice and movement cause i’m wearing a skirt… i’m sure it’ll be okay. maybe i should bring pants lol. i also got a new phone case !! it’s so cute i love it, it has a shark on it !! something abt me is i love sharks with my entire heart. they are my favorite animal ever ever ever !! i’m gonna try to get a marine biology internship/college credit this summer. although i do want to be an actress my “fall back” is marine biology. i’ve always been interested in it and it’s always been my second choice right next to acting. my school opens at 7:20 am and classes start at 8:25 and i still haven’t left my house lol. it’s 7:55. but i’m also usually always almost late but i never am because i never he caught by the teachers on tardy patrol. lucky me !! i’ve been listening to katrina stuart non stop recently, her music rlly making me feel some type of way.

in the car; finally driving to school !! i just put on lipgloss which is hello kitty, so cute. found out my first rehearsal for districts is tmr during lunch & learn.. problem is is that i have to make up a science quiz. i’m going to try and do both. okay update: turns out i cannot do both because science isn’t open tuesday for lunch & learn. that’s kinda stupid tbh. but yk teachers gotta eat too ig. so i get to go to rehearsal !! last year i didn’t even have a chance at districts because i was new so i’m very happy it’s student directed for hs, and one my my friends is directing. i can admit, he can be a little mean so i’m a little scared to get yelled at if he gets pissed or smth but i think it will be okay.

costume design; now i’m in tech “costume design”. freshmen have to take this class but it’s rlly fun. and my man is in it. i’ve alr seen him looking at me once so yay. 2 of my bsfs are in this class too and we’re making little animal stuffed animals. nothing else is rlly happening but i’ll update if something interesting happens !!

lunch & learn; LOL i was doing things ALLLL of acting 1 so i couldn’t write, sry abt that. but now i’m helping my friend lexi with her districts number. she’s doing a group MT number to “what i was born to do” from bring it on the musical. it’s so good, everyone is so talented !! lexi is such a good singer, can u believe she isn’t in MT?? she’s in PT with me, i think that’s crazy. she deserves MT !! last year i gave the guy i liked a cookie everyday so i’m gonna try and do that again today, hopefully it doesn’t come off weird..

going home; i did not fill in anything for my last period but it was okayish. i did give him the cookie and he said “ur so sweet.” so that’s nice. but now i’m starting to think he’s not interested in me or smth like that.. or he thinks i’m annoying. i’m probably overreacting but he said “it’s fine” instead of “it’s okay”. it felt passive aggressive. but also that’s just how he talks irl so i have no clue. i’m probably overreacting tbh.

ASHDKJAH I was looking for something and realized I never posted my fic research of me going to Bath and Body Works and genuinely sniffing every candle they had out so: here are my notes w/ typos and all :) I sorted them roughly (bc on the spot) from Best to NO primarily thinking about what soleil would like but inevitably influenced by my own tastes

scents I found Strong got an * in front, no-gos got an x (increasing number of x's based just how much i was like ❌❌❌❌❌❌ on first impression)

findings: - soleil would like the mellow-er scents over the super strong ones which is fine bc cyrill wouldn't have brought any of those anyway - would go Bonkers over the ones that smell like fresh laundry or the others' creamers or other little day-by-day surrounding scents. - he also likes bake-y and fruit-y scents. and lavender!! i don't really like lavender so it was surprising the first time i sniffed one and brain was like :00000000 he would go for it, and then by the end I was like HE WOULD GO FOR IT - meanwhile he dislikes floral-y or perfume-y scents and strong woods-y or cologne-y scents as they would be triggers for him - and then ofc, the names and scents of candles i wind up using in fic :)

this was. a four page document btw so be aware when you hit read more. at the end of this fic research I personally walked away with a hot cocoa and sugared lemon zest candle btw ^^ i'm ngl the hot cocoa was 80% bc it reminded me of ness

-the hot cocoa and cream smells good :) the Choco is v up in ur face but not overpowering

-straeberry pound cake smells v sweets and if U really inhale u can smell like, a super ripe strawberry that's sat and gotten super juicy, oops Soleil would like that a lot

-peach belline really peach sweet w a hint of zest (the sweet orange ig)

-the white pumpkin smells spicy but has a nice warm tone to it, probs the caramel

-Winter candy apple v sweet and mellow

-the champagne apple and honey is lightly sweet and mellow

-the raspberry mimosa is v sweet

-same w/ midnight blue citrus w/ the mango, v nice and mellow

-the lavender vanilla is v underwhelming so I think Soleil might like it, esp bc like lavender and soothing qualities or so he's heard

-raspberry thumbprint is v There if u know what ur looking for, has a good mix of the two but it's kinda weird bc they're So mixed? Idk

-punpkin pecan waffles has a warm effect to it (probs the maple syrup but otherwise is too difficult to parse)

-straeberry snowflakes faintly sweet and faintly like, creamy ig (w/ the whipped cream)

-the cinnamon spiced vanilla is not as good as merry cookie but it's not bad (not as in ur face)

-wildberry ube is fruity and sweet but it has a lingering after scent

-laundry day straight up smells like a laundromat Including the like, heat of them but Soleil would Not be familiar with that and would prefer linen and lavender

-iced winter balsam smells v lemony (eucalyptus)at first but then the pine and balsam come in except they kind of linger after that

-winter pear forest smells brightly of pears w/ some woodsy undertones. If u like. Inhale really hard the pear picks up

-cocoa roasted chestnuts is v acceptable but I can't tell what it is lol?

-cedar and suede is v underwhelming so acceptable

-holiday just smells really spicy, so does cinnamon stick

-frosted coconut snowball is nice but hard to parse

-sugared pomegranate smells nice but it's afterscent is kinda :/

-balsam and bergamot inoffensive

SOUP

objects needed:

various things like bowls n shit ig

massive fucking pot. idk how but it is but u need a BIG pot unless u want to scale my ressipy down

ingredience:

sweet onion — 2 onions. dice em

carrots — chopped however u want. as many as u desire

peas — i use 1 or 2 bags of frozen peas but do whatever u want forever

olive oil — follow ur heart

vegetable broth - like 64 fl oz but can be made more or less depending on ur pot size

a can of coconut milk — use like half a container or just follow ur heart. get full fat

butter (melted) — can use like vegan butter or maybe oil idk it’s for a roux and i’m like 85% sure u can just use oil instead. the amount will be revealed by following ur heart (like 2 or 3tbsp at most)

flour — use the same amount as the butter/oil/whatever. they need to be roughly 50:50 but don’t stress abt it i eyeball it and it turns out okay

spices — follow ur heart. i use like an absurd amt of bay leaves and italian seasoning but i feel in my heart that ground sage would be good which i will try next time

salt to taste

note: u can add more veg if u want like i tried corn a couple times as well and it’s good but be mindful of how much room in ur pot that u have bc it can get messy if u add in a whole bunch of extra shit

dumplings ingredience:

i’m a fraud i actually do use a resippy for the dumplings. i don’t remember where i got this but i have it and i loosely follow it for my soup 👍

^^ butter is subbable w oil in cases like these.

i use unsweetened almond milk for these but u can probs use other nondairy milks. i think oat milk would be fine. just anything w/o a really strong flavor

ALSO: add more salt than that and i’d suggest adding other seasonings. ground sage would probs be good here too. pepper would also be good. i’m still fucking w what i like the best but don’t use italian seasoning please listen to me. don’t use italian seasoning u can’t just put italian seasoning in everything it doesn’t work pls listen to me

steps:

warm the pot, add olive oil let it warm up for like 10 secs and then add the onions. sauté until almost translucent on medium heat

add in carrots. if they’re cut large i suggest boiling them a bit before adding them in but if not u can add them here. keep sautéing on medium

when ur heart tells u to u must add the peas (if frozen defrost first) and the vegetable broth and coconut milk and spices and salt n shit. leave on medium until it starts bubbling and then lower it so it’s simmering. do NOT burn ur veg

while that’s sitting make your roux: melt butter/add oil to pan and let it warm, add flour after melted/warm. stir for about 5 minutes

put the roux in the soup. let it sit for like 40+ minutes while stirring. i recommend letting it sit for like 2 hours and i’m not kidding. let the flavors work. leave it on a low heat the whole time but still keep an eye on it just in case. make sure ur okay w ur spices (do not skimp on spices. put a lot in and have fun)

after it’s been a good amount of time taste ur soup if it’s bland u didn’t add enough spices so add more and let it sit longer. if it’s good put it on medium/high so it’ll boil and start making your dumplings

dumplings are easy af u just mix the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, salt, spices) then add in the wet ingredients (milk, butter/oil) and mix, then just throw it in the soup by the spoonful. don’t make them too big or they won’t cook through

let them boil for a bit but make sure u don’t burn ur veg. lower the temp after a while and cook them until they’re done all the way through (use a spoon or smth to cut them open and look) (good time for me is like 20min. feel free to go longer tho bc they also thicken the soup which is nice)

let it cool if u don’t want to burn ur whole mouth and then eat it. congrats on ur soup 👍

she said that one of the teachers saw me looking at pro-ana sites in class(probably tumblr i hate yall LMAO) and they told her. she wouldnt tell me who it was. if i find out who snitched i will hshdhsjdh. i fr cant let anyone know abt my ed but god i was so close to telling her everything.

she said that i dont have any adults in my life who i can rely on and that i carry way too much for a teenager. shes getting me a school therapists and tbh i dont think itll help much bc ive had a few before but shes so nice to me so ill try. idk if im ready to talk abt my ed yet but i def want to do smth abt my mood swings and everything that comes w it. its so tiring.

she couldnt rlly do anything abt my moms anger so she told me that it was just one day and that i could get through it and i would speak w her again tmr. heating her say that was a real relief ngl. my mom hasnt ever been this mad(except for that one time 3 years ago when she wouldnt allow me anywhere but the attic for 3 weeks) and its rlly scary. home situation isnt great and school isnt either but god id do anything to be at school rn.

all in all life still sucks, i love L and now im starting school therapy. woohoo.

thank youuu !! the program, like i said, allows me to go at my own pace, so rlly it could be as short or as long as i’d like, but average is supposed to be 6 months skdjdkd and i started it back in january bc my dad encouraged me to but that was obviously when i still had about 6 months of school left djsjsjsk so i obviously prioritized my actual school over this program since i could take my time with it anyway, and it’s rlly inexpensive which is nice. but yeah my goal is to complete then certificate within the next few months to hopefully get a ux design job by like ,, february or so ?? but yeah :D

tysmm yeah kind of on the fence abt medicine rn but i really do love helping people :') it's like one of the two major factors that convinced me this was a worth-it path to pursue (?) but yeah, the cards have not fully been revealed just yet and my mom's hoping i can miracle my way into graduating in three years so i can have a gap year btwn med school and undergrad (which would be nice too but we'll see haha)

Hey, quick question... how do you do lineart and shading? I suck and desperately need advice... also love ur art <3

hi!! ty so much :] i use 2 drawing apps when i draw dont ask me why ig i like different brushes but for my sketches i draw on ibis paint most of the time and use This brush right here

for my lineart i often use procreate and use the narinder brush in the sketching section (and also doodle with it) bc it looks rlly nice and ive been drawing with it for a while now surprisingly bc i always tend to change brushes 😭

for lines i turn the layer to multiply then add a layer on top and set that one to clipping mask then i color the lines inside w a shade of pink and bc the lineart layer is set as multiply the pink will look darker idk if this makes sense?? i do that for all my lineart so yea WOW I SAID LINEART AND LAYER A LOT i May be stupid

ALSO for lineart dont hesitate with ur lines, its gonna make everything harder and ur gonna struggle and spend way more time on it instead just warm up beforehand a good way to do so would be to just trace lines until you get more comfy and also draw using the force in ur wrist and not ur arm!! i rlly love doing lineart now it may be my one of my fav parts i am an Outcast

for shading it just came with experience i guess…? i was rlly bad at shading at first So a few tips i learned along the way was to never shade w black bc it doesnt look nice (except if ur goign for that kind of aesthetic where it works) so i always shade w purple or pink colors set on multiply and it blends nicely,, also!! trying out a lot of things can help id suggest making a pinterest board or smth with art U like/are inspired by and try out some of the aspects just to practice things u wanna get better at and it can also help ‘develop’ ur artstyle!!

also for clothing folds and stuff Which was hell to shade for me i just studied w a lot of pics and now i Think im better at it idk help but studying always helps a lot in everything like when i dont know how to draw smth i Always use a reference pic and its a very good warmup!! also try to keep in mind a light source bc otherwise the shadows may contradict themselves but thats still fine as long as ur learning And there is no right way to do art dont overwork urself if you cant do something first try its fine art is a journey :)
